Gathered on the ramp that was built as a gift for for Elijah, a two year old who attends Achievement Academy, are (l-r) Gregg Lamb, Rick Sackett, Don Worley, Mom Irene Rodriguez and Elijah Theard. One of Elijah's teachers called Gregg, who got the ball rolling, and thanks to team effort from KMR Concrete, Garcia Layout and Concrete, Whit's Building Supply, Inc., and Sackett's Construction, provided Elijah and his family with a much easier path in and out of their home. Irene Rodriguez, shown here with her 2-year-old son Elijah Theard, said she was "so happy" when she found out a group of volunteers had teamed up to provide a ramp for Elijah, who has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair. It was a real struggle getting his chair up and down the steps prior to the ramp's installation, she said, and one of his teachers, noticing that, made a phone call to Gregg Lamb, who got the project underway.

Elijah Theard, at 2 years old, is too young to understand the kindness of strangers, who made life easier for his family by building a ramp and new sidewalk from their home to the street.

But to his mother, Irene Rodriguez, and his grandmother Aurora Rodriguez, the intervention of caring people has made a huge difference in day-to-day life. Elijah has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair. Maneuvering the chair up and down the steps every day was hard.
